Enjoy the experience of a lifetime aboard the Mare Australis and Via Australis expedition ships, made to explore the vast and beautiful Patagonia. You will visit important landmarks such as Cape Horn and Ushuaia, as well as fjords, channels and some striking glaciers such as Pia or Gunther Plüschow. Aboard and on site you will be given lectures where you’ll learn about the local flora and fauna, glaciers, the Patagonia aborigines, geography, etc. The cabins feature a large window, low beds, safety box, heater, closet, private facilities and 220 / 110 volts US type sockets (adapters available).

Day 01 Saturday: Punta Arenas (B)

Check-in in the afternoon (from 13:00 to 16:00) in Puntarenas, at Magallanes 990. At 18:00, you’ll embark the Mare Australis Expedition Cruise Ship, and your exciting trip to the farthest part of the earth will begin.

Day 02 Sunday: Ainsworth Bay / Tucker Islet (B)

Early in the morning the ship will arrive near Marinelli Glacier in Ainsworth Bay, where you’ll walk through a Magellan forest and will see a beaver dam. On the beach you’ll see an elephant seal colony. Then you’ll continue towards Tucker Islet where you’ll be able to see Magellan penguins and cormorants.

Day 03 Monday: Pia Glacier / Glacier Alley (B)

Today you’ll navigate through the Beagle Channel until reaching Pia Bay, where you’ll disembark at Pia Glacier. Once here you will hike up to a look out point, where you’ll appreciate an imposing mountain range, where the glacier originates. Then you will continue along the Beagle Channel until reaching the Glacier Alley.

Day 04 Tuesday: Cape Horn / Wulaia Bay (B)

Today you’ll navigate through the Beagle and Murray Channels, and if weather permits, you’ll disembark at Cape Horn National Park. Cape Horn is the true continent’s extreme. In the afternoon you will come ashore in Wulaia Bay, a historic site where a large concentration of local people once inhabited.

Day 05 Wednesday: Ushuaia (B)

In the morning you’ll arrive to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. Once there you’ll have the opportunity to see the city and perhaps the national parks.
