Enjoy the experience of a lifetime aboard the Mare Australis and Via Australis expedition ships, made to explore the vast and beautiful Patagonia. You will visit important landmarks such as Cape Horn and Ushuaia, as well as fjords, channels and some striking glaciers such as Pia or Gunther Plüschow. Aboard and on site you will be given lectures where you’ll learn about the local flora and fauna, glaciers, the Patagonia aborigines, geography, etc. The cabins feature a large window, low beds, safety box, heater, closet, private facilities and 220 / 110 volts US type sockets (adapters available).
Day 01 Wednesday: Ushuaia (B)
Check in at San Martín 245 (from 9:00 to 16:00). Around 17:00 or 18:00, you’ll embark Mare Austalis Expedition Cruise Ship. After a welcome cocktail, the ship will set sail to Tierra del Fuego through the Beagle Channel, the southernmost part of the earth.
Day 02 Thursday: Cape Horn / Wulaia Bay (B)
Today you’ll disembark in Wulaia Bay in Cape Horn National Park (weather permitting). Cape Horn is the true continent’s extreme. In the afternoon you will come ashore in Wulaia Bay, a historic site where a large concentration of local people once inhabited. Here you will hike to a view point, amidst a typical Magellan Forest.
Day 03 Friday: Gunther Plüschow Glacier (B)
After disembarking at Gunther Plüschow Glacier you’ll board the zodiac boats and will come near the breathtaking Piloto and Nena glaciers.
Day 04 Saturday: Magdalena Island / Punta Arenas (B)
Today you’ll come ashore in Magdalena Island, where you’ll take a short hike to the lighthouse and will see a huge Magellan Penguins colony. Afterwards, you’ll arrive in port at Punta Arenas around 11:30 am.
