This self drive trip will allow you to see amazing landmarks in Chile and Argentina with great flexibility. You´ll have the opportunityto see the best National parks in the South: Torres del Paine in Chile and Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina.
Day 01 Rio Gallegos / Punta Arenas (220 km / 3.30 hrs)
Pick up car at the airport in Rio Gallegos and drive to Punta Arenas in Chile. This ocean-side city is one of the most southernmost cities in the world. Recognized world wide for its stunning views and breathtaking wilderness, Punta Arenas offers tourists limitless options, from visiting museums and important monuments, to skiing and enjoying the wilderness! Overnight at Cabo de Hornos Hotel (or similar)
Day 02 Punta Arenas / Puerto Natales (250 km / 3 hrs) (B)
Drive to Puerto Natales. Along the way, it´s possible to visit the Otway penguin colony. This port is the gateway to a number of beautiful spots in Chile, such as the Torres del Paine National Park, and many other parks and popular wilderness stops. In town attractions include a casino, museum, and a square in the town’s center. Overnight Hotel Costaustralis (city view) (or similar)
Day 03 Puerto Natales / Torres del Paine (150 km / 2 hrs) (B)
Today, drive to Torres del Paine National Park area. Along the way, it´s possible to visit the Milodon caves. This captivating park is home to many beautiful mountain and lake views and is a popular destination for hikers from all over. Overnight at Hosteria Tyndall (superior) (or similar)
Day 04 Torres Del Paine National Park (B)
Enjoy the day at your leisure. We suggest an excursion to Torres del Paine National Park. Overnight at Hosteria Tyndall (superior) (or similar)
Day 05 Torres del Paine / El Calafate (300 km / 5 hrs) (B)
Today, cross the border to Argentina, and continue to El Calafate. Overnight at El Quijote Hotel (3*) (or similar)
Day 06 Perito Moreno Glacier (80 km / 1.30 hrs one way) (B)
Enjoy your day at leisure. We suggest you make an excursion to Perito Moreno glacier (not included). Overnight El Quijote Hotel (or similar)
Day 07 Upsala Glacier (50 km / 45 min one way) (B)
Enjoy your day at leisure. We suggest you make an excursion to Upsala & Onelli glacier by boat (not included). Overnight El Quijote Hotel (or similar)
Day 08 El Calafate (B)
At the appropriate time, drive to the airport and drop off the car there.

- All drivers need to be 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license since 2 years
- Request for border crossing permission is subject to local authority and ILS does not take responsibility in case of “force mayeure” (strikes etc), even though the permit was given before
- All rates are per person in US Dollars
- The definite hotels will be advised upon booking
- Category is based on type of car. There are other types of cars available (Fiat Siena, GM Astra, GM Vectra). Please ask for prices!
- Important note: A special permission is required to cross the border. Please send by fax or email a photocopy of your passport and driver’s license at least 15 days in advance. The cost is US$ 40.
