Join the Amazon Clipper for an exciting journey through the world’s most plentiful river and largest tropical jungle. The river is surely an excellent way to get to know the intricate secrets of the Amazonian Rain forest. Common area facilities in the boat include dining area, bar and panoramic sun deck area. The 8 cabins feature bunk beds, private bath and nighttime air conditioning.
Day 01 Monday: Departure (D)
The boat departs from the Tropical Experience Hotel at 2:30 pm. Please get there with plenty of time ahead! Once on board, you’ll be introduced to the staff and to your room. You’ll navigate towards the “Meeting of the waters”. Afterwards, continue towards Curari, where you’ll take a canoe ride in the smaller creeks. Here you’ll see flood plain forests and lakes with giant water lilies (in season). After sunset, you’ll be able to see some of the night fauna such as caimans. Then, you’ll return to the boat for dinner.
Day 02 Tuesday : Amazon (B, L, D)
Early in the morning you’ll take a canoe trip, where you’ll probably be able to see many aquatic bird species such as egrets and cormorants, as well as the unique Hoatzins. You’ll visit the lake inhabitants, who live from fishing and products such as rubber, Brazil nut trees and wood. Then, you’ll hike through the forest with a specialist in the area. After lunch, you’ll continue navigating and will have the opportunity to fish for piranhas and other types of fish. At night, you’ll take another trip and you’ll hopefully see more nocturnal animals.
Day 03 Wednesday: Amazon (B, D)
In the morning you’ll do some more bird watching in Janauary Ecological Park or in the nearby waters. After breakfast, you’ll head towards Manaus, where some passengers may disembark. At about 2:30 pm, you’ll navigate towards the Pagodão River, a tributary of the Negro River. Before sunset, you’ll take a canoe trip to try and see some nocturnal animals. You’ll then return to the boat for dinner.
Day 04 Thursday: Amazon (B)
In the morning you’ll have a hike in the forest with a specialist guide. You’ll have the chance to know the local flora, as well as spend some time with a native family, or caboclo. You’ll see how they prepare manioc flour, very typical of the Amazon. You’ll then sail through Anavilhanas, the largest fresh water archipelago in the world. Afterwards, you’ll have another night expedition to try and spot animals such as caimans, frogs, snakes and others.
Day 05 Friday: Amazon (B)
Today you’ll sail to Praia Grande or another white sand beach. Hopefully there will be some time to swim! Then, you’ll take a canoe trip on Lake Acajatuba, to observe the typical vegetation. Before lunch, do some piranha fishing. Then, you’ll stop at Paricatuba to see some abandoned buildings from the rubber growing era.
Day 06 Saturday : Manaus (B, L)
Today you’ll enjoy a bird watching canoe trip to Lake Janauary. After breakfast, visit the “Meeting of the waters”, and then head back to the pier at Tropical Experience Hotel, arriving around 11:30
