This package is the perfect option for those wild and free spirits who like to decide what to do on the spot. With this package, you choose where and for how long! Designing your own itinerary as you go is not the only advantage: you get better rates for hotels and rental cars, advice from an expert, and a 24 hour line available in case you need help of any sort. This is how the Ride and Discover package works: You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in San José (the first night will be booked in advance). At this time you will be given all the documents you need for your trip: vouchers, hotel list with telephone numbers and maps. The next morning, a 4x4 vehicle will be delivered to your hotel, and a Costa Rican expert will provide a briefing of the country, mentioning destinations, routes, etc. Feel free to ask him all the questions you may have! Now you are ready to discover Costa Rica on your own! As you go, you can pick any hotel from the category you chose. There are 154 hotels included in the program, and three categories: I (Basic): includes 58 hotels to choose from II (Favorite): includes 128 hotels to choose from III (Complete): includes 154 hotels to choose from The only condition is you can’t book the rooms in advance. You can call one day ahead to check availability, and you must identify yourself as part of this program. In each main area there are several hotels and lodges, so if one hotel is full, it’s likely another will be available. At the end of the trip, just drop off the car at the airport, or at the rental car company’s office near the airport (you will be advised upon car delivery).
Day 01 Arrival to San Jose
Upon arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for the first night in San José. Lodging in San Jose (pre-booked night in a hotel included in your category)
Day 02 Briefing, Car delivery and off on your own!
In the morning a Costa Rican expert will guide you through the most important Costa Rican destinations. You’ll discuss the best routes, hotel choices, and all the questions you may have. Then, a rental car representative will deliver a 4x4 to the hotel. He will explain the rental conditions, insurance, delivery, etc. Then, depart to your favourite location! Day 03-07 Discover Costa Rica!
These days are yours to decide what to do! Visit the beaches, mountains or volcanoes…there is plenty to choose from! Lodging at your hotel of choice
Day 08 Departure
Today, drive to the airport and drop off your car (it’s suggested to be there three hours before your international flight departure).

- 6 Nights (or 13, if applicable) in any of the hotels included in the list of your category (With no previous reservation) (includes hotel taxes). You will receive one voucher per night.

- 7 Days (or 14, if applicable) 4 x 4 car rental, including unlimited mileage, daily CDW- Insurance (for one named driver) & local Taxes (except license plate fee: $0.99 daily)

- -The package is valid with a minimum of seven nights.
- - Additional nights can be purchased. Please ask for prices!
- -This program is only valid without previous hotel reservations (except first night in San Jose). Hotels reserve the right to accept or deny any reservation based on availability.
- -The CDW-Insurance has a deductible of US$ 750 in case of accident. It’s possible to exclude it for an additional amount of $15 per day
- -Additional insurance can be purchased on the spot (against robbery and other damages)
- -To include a second named driver, the cost is US$5 per day
- -The general conditions for car rentals are: drivers must be at least 21 years old, and must have a valid Driver’s license and passport
- -A credit card is required as a guarantee for all rentals. The credit card must cover the amount of the deductible as a deposit (VISA, Master Card, American Express and Diner’s Club).
