Mexico Weather and Climate

Because of Mexico's vast size, its climate varies depending on whether you are in the coastal lowlands or the mountainous highlands. The country reaches into both the temperate and subtropical regions of the world.

Temperatures during the winter months may be anywhere from 41°F (5°C) in the northern regions to 83° F (28°C) in the southern areas. During the summer months like July, the temperature may range from 55°F (13°C) in the cool regions and 88°F (31°C) in the southern regions.

The driest month in Mexico is generally February where the most rain will fall in the regions of Quintana Roo, Yucatan, and northern Baja California. June is a rainy month in the southern regions of Mexico such as Chiapas while there may be virtually none in the northern regions of the country. Because of the various different weather patterns throughout the country, there are many different types of vegetation with deserts and temperate regions in the North and tropical and subtropical rainforests in the South.
