Ometepe is an island located in Lake Nicaragua. It is home to two large volcanoes: Concepción, which is still considered active today, and the inactive Maderas. Located in the middle of the enormous Lake Nicaragua, Concepción rises an impressive 1,610 meters and takes the shape of nearly perfect cone. Maderas, is home to a beautiful rainforest habitat which is today a nature reserve. The island is accesed by ferry.
