Day 01 Arrival Calama/San Pedro Atacama
Calama Airport reception and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. It is time to meet deeply the San Pedro de Atacama surroundings by bike heading south to the Cejar Lagoon. Experience a biking through different native villages or ayllus. The Cejar lagoon is 20 kilometers away from San Pedro de Atacama and it's situated in the middle of the Atacama Salt flat at 2.600 meters above the sea level. This lagoon is dominated by beautiful scenery, its deep-turquoise-color water, and the contrast of the white salt formations. This extraordinary case of Geo-morphological formation is unique in the Atacama salt flat and it is part of the immigration trajectory of the pink flamingos. Return to San Pedro de Atacama. Day 02 Sandboarding in Death Valley/Chaxa Lagoon tour (B)
This morning you will have an once-in-a-lifetime experience... Sandboarding at the Death Valley. Descend through the dunes on a surfboard - it is a unique practice. The dunes suitable for this activity are located in the Death Valley, 4 km away from San Pedro. You will drive from your hotel to the Death Valley in the middle of the Salt Mountain Range, where the guide will give you all the directions needed so you can have fun. Surfing in sand it's an unforgettable experience, not just for the charm of the place, but the vertigo that you will feel when you descend down the dunes at more than 120 mts. Return to your hotel for lunch (not included) During the afternoon you will discover the Chaxa Lagoon, passing by the famous Flamingos National Reservation, which are surrounded by mountains and volcanoes, making this area a unique place to be visited. Once in the Atacama Salt Flat, you will see the famous Chaxa Lagoon, located 50 kilometers away from San Pedro de Atacama, where flamingos and other birds can be seen. Return to San Pedro de Atacama.
Day 03 Trekking Guatin/Puritama Hot Springs (B)
After your breakfast at the hotel, we invite you to a trekking to Guatin- also known as the Cactus Valley or Cardones Ravine- located where the Purifica and the Puritama Rivers join. Here you will be able to feel in contact with hundred-year seven-meter cactus and a bleak and boundless landscape. Travel by vehicle to Tatio and from then you will walk downstream until you get to the beach. Several waterfalls and rock formations will be the background of your trekking. After this beautiful experience and a gorgeous view of nature, you will head to Puritama, a volcanic origin place; the Puritama Hot Springs is located in a deep gully, 30 km away from San Pedro and 3,500 meters above the sea level. It is full of hot water deep pools (30Âº approx.) and it is the perfect place to take a bath in its thermal pools containing several mineral salts. Ancient agricultural terraces line the canyon-sides, along with massive stone walls, and even some cacti. The layout of the place is as follows: there are eight artificial pools, cleverly made with volcanic rocks, so that they mesh perfectly with the scenery. Return to San Pedro de Atacama.
Day 04 Biking Rainbow Valley/Rio Grande (B)
From San Pedro de Atacama we will head to the Domeyko Mountain Range, with a desert landscape and the view of the Andes Mountain Range as a background, We will bike to the Valle del Arcoiris -Rainbow Valley- so-called due to the several multicolor hills surround it Here you will enjoy a soft trekking discovering its corners. The Rainbow Valley features three different parts, all of them interesting. The Hierbas Buenas petroglyph is the first, featuring over a thousand ancient stone carvings from the ancient Atacameno people. They're from all time periods, from the first caravaners to the Incas. After that we will visit the agricultural village of Rio Grande, with only 96 inhabitants is well-known because it seems to be stuck in Pre-Hispanic time. All made in stone and mud and straw roofs. The inhabitants are dedicated to the agriculture and the knitting and clay handicraft. The presence of Petroglyphs makes of Rio Grande an interesting place to visit. Return to San Pedro de Atacama.
Day 05 Tatio Geyser/Calama departure (B)
Today visit the Tatio Geyser. Early departure at 4:00 oâ€™clock in order to see the sunrise in this beautiful place. The fumaroles activity starts at 5:30 hrs. and ends between 7:00 and 8:30 hrs. That is why it is highly recommended to departure from San Pedro de Atacama early in the morning. This natural attraction is located 121 kilometers away from San Pedro approximately, 4.000 meters above the sea level. Here you will enjoy the overwhelming vapor columns and fumaroles sight, where water boils at hundreds degrees. Arriving at the geysers before sunrise is a must, which is why the main part of the route has to be done during night. Transfer to the Calama airport.
