This trip is for those interested in culture, history and natural beauty. You’ll visit the top highlights in southern Colombia’s Andean region: Tierradentro, San Agustín and Popayán, where you will see the most important archaeological site in the country.
Day 01 Bogotá / San Agustín
In the morning you will be transferred from the hotel in Bogotá to the airport for your flight to Neiva. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the San Agustín Archaeological Park, “Mesitas” A-B-C- and D, Fuente Ceremonial de Lavapatas and the Archaeological Museum. Lodging in San Agustín
Day 02 San Agustín (B)
Today you’ll take a horseback riding tour to visit other sites, such as “El Tablón” and “La Chaquira” or alternatively, a trip to the dramatic straits of the Río Magdalena. Then, trip to Isnos to see the “Parque Arqueológico del Alto de los Ídolos” and “Alto de las Piedras”. Visit to Salto de Bordones cascade. Lodging in San Agustín
Day 03 San Agustín / Tierradentro (B)
Overland trip to San Andrés de Pisimbala (Tierradentro). The trip will take about 5 hours. Lodging in Tierradentro
Day 04 Tierradentro (B)
In the afternoon, you’ll visit the Tierradentro Archaeological Park and Museum, where you’ll be able to see some caves and tombs as well as relics located near the Alto Segovia and Alto del Duende. Lodging in Tierradentro
Day 05 Tierradentro / Popayan (B)
After breakfast overland trip from Tierradentro to Popayan, one of the most beautiful of all South American cities. Around evening time, transfer to a pretty hotel constructed in Spanish colonial style. Lodging in Popayan
Day 06 Purace Volcano / Popayan (B)
Today you’ll visit the beautiful and unique Purace National Park, which encloses volcanoes, hot springs, waterfalls and important flora and fauna, such as the spectacled bear. Lodging in Popayan
Day 07 Popayan (B)
In the morning you’ll enjoy a city tour, visiting some of Popayan’s impressive museums and churches. The afternoon is yours to spend at leisure. (If this visit occurs on a Tuesday, you can visit the indigenous market in nearby Silvia for additional cost). Lodging in Popayan
Day 08 Popayan / Bogotá (B)
At the proper time you will be transferred to the Popayan airport for your flight to Bogotá.
