You will explore the highlands of Ecuador home of volcanoes, Indian markets, colonial cities, Indigenous communities, impressive landscapes, rivers and lakes. Leaving from Cuenca, you will begin your descent from 12,000 feet to sea level. The vegetation and climate will change dramatically before your eyes as will everything else you see. The Coastal region of the country, with its people, beautiful beaches, fishing towns and great seafood, will make you wonder if you are in a different country all together

Day 01 Arrival in Quito

Welcome reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Fuente de Piedra I or II 3* hotel

Day 02 City Tour & Equator line (B)

Transport will be provided from your hotel to Quito's old town. The tour begins with a visit to the Independence Square, where the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral and El Sagrario Church are located. We will also visit the Church of La Compania (1605), with its amazing gilt altars. This is considered one of the finest examples of baroque art in America, and the Moorish influence can also be noted in the intricate designs carved on the magnificent red and gold columns and ceilings. Afterwards we will take you to the church and monastery of San Francisco (1535). This is the oldest Ecuadorian church and the main altar inside is a spectacular example of baroque carving. There is also a fine collection of artwork, including paintings, sculpture and furniture dating back to the 16th century. Finally, we will drive up to the highest viewpoint of the city, El Panecillo hill from where we will have a spectacular view of Quito, a 30-minute drive will take us to La Mitad del Mundo (the middle of the world) with its 30-metre-high monument marking the equatorial line, and excellent ethnographic museum, transport to Hotel.

Day 03 Quito-Otavalo (B)

Today we will head north to Otavalo, a most to visit!. Otavalo is set in a beautiful countryside , with mountains, lakes, and small villages nearby. On our way to the indigenous market town of Otavalo, we'll visit the Cochasqui Indian Ruins and Cotacachi town, famous for its leather clothes, where there is plenty of opportunity to shop. We'll also visit Cuicocha Lake, it is a crate lake with two islands, and San Antonio de Ibarra , main commercial center of the northern highlands, before arriving at our hotel in Otavalo.Hotel Coraza or similar 3*

Day 04 Otavalo-Machachi (B)

Today tour begins with an early morning visit to the animal market. After breakfast, we will take you to Otavalo's main market. This is considered one of the biggest and more colorful Indian markets in South America. After lunch, you will be able to visit the beautiful Mojanda Lakes before we begin our return journey heading south , first to Cayambe and El Quinche, before we arrive in Machachi in the late afternoon.Machachi is famous for its mineral water springs. Day 05 Machachi /Quilotoa / Banos (B, BB)

After breakfast we'll visit Zumbahua, one of the most unspoiled highland areas of Ecuador. We'll then journey to Quilotoa,a volcanic crater fill by a beautiful emerald lake. In the afternoon we'll arrive in Banos, a picturesque city located at the gateway to the jungle, where we will stay overnight. (B, LB).Hotel Monte y Selva or similar

Day 06 Banos/ Waterfalls tour /Riobamba (B)

On the sixth day of our tour, we'll drive east following the road, which runs along the impressive Pastaza Canyon towards the jungle. Here we will have the opportunity to visit El Pailon del Diablo (The Devil Caldron) waterfall before returning to Banos and then continuing towards the city of Riobamba. Hotel overnight. Day 07 Riobamba / Alausi / Train Devils nose / Cuenca (B)

On this day, you'll have the opportunity to travel down the famous Devil's Nose by train*(not included). We'll head for the village of Alausi, enjoying spectacular mountain views on the way. From Alausi we'll travel south to Cuenca, Hotel. (B)Hotel Carvallo or similar *Train is subject to availability of spaces and operation days (Tuesday to Sunday).

Day 08 Cuenca City Tour & Panama Hat Factory (B)

On this tour you'll have plenty of time to visit one of the most beautiful and picturesque cities in Ecuador. Its cobblestone streets, flowering plazas, and whitewashed buildings with old wooden doors and balconies make it a please to explore. We'll begin with a walk into the centre of the city, where we'll admire the cathedral and historical buildings and visit the Museo de las Conceptas museum, which is housed in what used to be the old infirmary of the Convent of the Immaculate Conception. Here it is possible to see an interesting display of religious art and an exhibition of photographs. The tour continues to visit the famous Panama Hat factory and ends with a visit to the colorful flower market. Hotel. (B

Day 09 Cuenca/Pto Lopez (B)

South of Guayaquil is the costal strip with the best beaches, known as la Ruta del Sol. Puerto Lopez is the perfect base to start. Transport to Pto. Lopez which is a small fisherman town located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Time to enjoy the beach. Hotel. (B).

Day 10 Machalilla Natl Park -Los Frailes Beach/Guayaquil (B)

From Puerto Lopez visit one of the most beautiful beaches in Ecuador, Los Frailes beach, located 20 minutes from Puerto Lopez and part of the Machalilla National park. Our transport will take us to the entrance of the National Park. Hike through tropical dry forest until we reach the beautiful Los Frailes beach. After enjoying a leisure time at the beach return to Puerto Lopez. Overnight in Guayaquil Hotel Doral or similar

Day 11 Departure Guayaquil (B)

Transfer to the International airport to catch your flight back home. (B)
