This great trip will introduce you to the rich culture and to the beautiful landscapes of Ecuador, from the snow-capped volcanoes to the jungle and down to the sandy beaches. Youll visit the lovely cities of Quito, Cuenca and Guayaquil; the amazing wildlife in the Amazon, and the picturesque settings in Otavalo, Baños and Riobamba.
Day 01 Arrival in Quito
Upon arrival in Quito airport you will be transferred to your hotel. Lodging in Quito 3*:Fuente de Piedra I or II
Day 02 Quito City tour and Equator Monument (B)
Visit to the old town of Quito with its interesting churches of San Francisco then drive up to El Panecillo hill from where we will enjoy a nice view of Quito. After lunch, visit the Equator and the Ethnographic museum. Hotel. (B).
Day 03 Quito Otavalo (B)
Travel to Otavalo town. Visit Cotacachi village, famous for its leather goods (shopping possibilities). Visit Cuicocha Lake and San Antonio de Ibarra. Transport back to Quito. Hotel. (B)
Day 04 Quito-Amazon Jungle (B, D)
Drive east to cross the highlands of Antisana Volcano and then we drive down to the town of Tena. This drive is full of wonderful views of the eastern part of the Cordillera de los Andes. Finally we will arrive at our lodge located on the shores of the Napo River, one of the biggest tributaries of the great Amazon River. B, D. Day 05 Amazon Jungle (B, L, D, BB)
We will spend this day admiring the marvelous vegetation of this area in the company of an experienced Indigenous jungle guide. Enjoy a canoe ride on the Napo River. Yacuma lodge (B, L, D).
Day 06 Amazon Jungle- Banos (B)
Early morning our transport will take us to the towns of Puyo and Banos. This trip offers plenty of fantastic views of the rugged landscape of the Pastaza Canyon. Visit the impressive Devil's Caldron water fall. Hotel in Banos 3* Hotel Monte y Selva or similar (B)
Day 07 Banos -Riobamba (B, BB)
Free morning in Banos. Transport up to the highlands of the imposing Mount Chimborazo (6310m) which is the highest and largest mountain of Ecuador. Here we can observe the gracious vicunas wondering on the high plateau. In the late afternoon we drive down to Riobamba city. 3* Hotel El Galpon or similar (B, LB).
Day 08 Devil Nose Train-Cuenca (B, BB)
This day you can enjoy one of the most exciting journeys: the famous Ecuadorian train ride down to the Devil's NoseÂ,(train fee is not included) from where our bus will take us through wonderful landscapes towards Cuenca city. On the way we will visit the interesting Inca ruins of Ingapirca. 3* Hotel Carvallo or similar (B, LB).
Day 09 Cuenca city tour (B)
In the morning: city tour in Cuenca.Cuenca is considered the most beautiful city in Ecuador, with its typical Spanish-style houses, interesting museums, restaurants, hotels, etc. We will take you around the city for a guided tour to visit some of the most interesting touristic areas like the Museum, The Cathedral, the Flowers Market, the Panama hatÂ factories, etc. There will be enough time to visit the city and admire its cultural life. After that we will have a free afternoon to discover one of the most charming Colonial-style cities of Ecuador. (B).
Day 10 Las Cajas National Park /Guayaquil (B, BB)
In the morning we make a short visit at Las Cajas National Park (optional 2 hours hiking tour) continuing afterwards towards the city of Guayaquil, the biggest port of Ecuador. Las Cajas National Park lies about 30km west of Cuenca and is celebrated for its many beautiful lakes, shining like jewels against the harsh countryside. Of interest to nature lovers are the small forests of quinua tree, which grow at the highest altitudes of any tree in the world. The park is the perfect place to enjoy a hike in and observe breathtaking scenery. It is also a spectacular location for keen bird-watchers, who are offered the chance to glimpse the giant cone bill, the tit-like dacnis and the grey-breasted mountain toucan, as well as a variety of enchanting hummingbirds. Guayaquil is the most important port town in Ecuador and is considered the economic capital of the country. Even though this is a very modern city, the neighborhood of Las PenasÂ with its wooden houses and narrow cobblestone streets provides the visitor a glimpse into colonial times. Among other places of interest is the new and modern Malecon. In the centre are the Centenario Plaza, the Art Theatre Centre, many impressive churches, including San Agustin and San Francisco, and numerous museums, including The Anthropological Museum and The Nahim Isaias Museum. 3* Hotel Quil or similar
Day 11 Guayaquil city tour (B)
In the morning enjoy a visit to Guayaquil's new MaleconÂ and the interesting Historic Park of Guayaquil. Then we will continue our journey traveling to Pto. Lopez which is a small fishermen town located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Hotel. (B).
Day 12 Guayaquil day at the beach (B)
Enjoy a relaxing day at the beach (optional tour to visit Isla de la Plata The small Galapagos-not included ). (B).
Day 13 Santo Domingo de los Colorados. (B, L)
Travel to Santo Domingo de los Colorados. This area is home for the Colorado Indians who live in this area still maintaining their old traditions. Hotel. (B, L).
Day 14 Cotopaxi Natl Park (B)
In the morning we will visit a Colorado Indian Community and then after lunch travel up to the highlands while enjoying beautiful views of the rugged western landscapes. Lodge in the Cotopaxi National Park area. Hacienda La Estacion or similar (B). Optional tour: Rafting Toachi or Blanco Rivers(not included)
Day 15 Visit Cotopaxi Natl Park (B, L)
Day to enjoy visiting the Cotopaxi National Park with spectacular views of Mount Cotopaxi considered being one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. Transport back to Quito. Hotel. (B, L).
Day 16 Departure (B)
