Day 01 Arrival at Guatemala City

(Itinerary must start on Tuesdays or Fridays) Arrival at Guatemala City and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. If times permits we recommend to visit on your own The Museum of the Popol Vuh-which offers visitors a unique trip through Guatemala's history, illustrated through one of the best collections of pre-Hispanic and colonial art in the country. Day 02 Antigua & Chichicastenango (B)

Depart for Antigua, the former Spanish-colonial capital, for a brief sightseeing of this charming town. After lunch continue to Chichicastenango for overnight accommodations-Hotel Mayan Inn Antigua is the most important and enchanting city of colonial Guatemala. Founded by the Spaniards in 1543, nowadays Antigua is a beautiful blend of ruins, restored colonial buildings, and new buildings in colonial style. It was declared Monument of America in 1965. Visit the Central Plaza, that is surrounded by the antique Cathedral, the Municipal Government Building, and the Palace of the Captains General; colonial churches and monasteries, primitive foot-looms where colorful textiles are woven, and a jade factory where this stone is worked into beautiful jewelry.

Day 03 Chichicastenango Market Day & Lake Atitlan (B)

Today is market day in Chichicastenango! Visit the most colorful and picturesque Indian open-air market in the country. Hundreds of Indians from the surrounding countryside gather to barter their goods and products. Also, witness the captivating religious ceremonies held on the steps and inside the 400-year old Church of Santo Tomas. After lunch return to Guatemala City via Lake Atitlan for a brief stop at the lake side village of Panajachel. Hotel Barcelo in Guatemala city Chichicastenango: It is one of the richest regions and where you can find the greatest manifestations of flora, fauna and natural and cultural vestiges heritage, as pre-Hispanic as colonials. It is the center of the town and the commercial life for maxenos (name given to the natives of Chichicastenango,). The merchants go down every Thursdays and Sundays to the central plaza, in order to sale their articles, in an impressionist indigenous market that has barely change in through centuries Lake Atitlan - It is considered one of the most beautiful in the world by the famous novelist Aldous Huxley. Three spectacular volcanoes, Toliman, Atitlan and San Pedro form the natural frame of the Lake itself. The Lake complements its beauty with roads, beaches, riverside towns, mountains and volcanoes panoramic. It offers excellent opportunities to practicing fishing sport, sail, kayaks, free falls, aquatic skiing and the naturalistic recreation, as well as visit the Mayan population of the surroundings.
