Day 1 Managua – Granada – Isletas (D)
Upon arrival in Managua airport, you will be driven to the colonial town of Granada. Upon arrival, we will take a boat tour in Lake Nicaragua. We will discover this enchanted world and observe the daily life by the “Isletas” as well as observe the rich bird life of the region. If you prefer, you can discover the Isletas on your own kayak. Return to Granada for dinner (includes a glass of wine) Lodging at Hotel La Gran Francia (junior suite)
Day 2 Granada - Masaya National Park by night (B, D)
We will begin the day by visiting the oldest city in the Americas: Granada. On this excursion, we will visit the Casa de los Leones, San Francisco Convent and its Museum, with its vast exposition of pre-Columbian statutes and pottery, the colorful market, the charming cobblestone streets, and numerous architecturally significant churches and monuments. Part of the tour will happen by horse carriage. In the late afternoon, we will drive to the Masaya Volcano National Park. Our late arrival (almost by dark) will give us the opportunity to see thousands of bats exiting the caves in the area. Then, we will walk to the stunning and active Santiago crater (east side), where the glowing lava can be seen. In fact, it’s one of the few places in the world where such an active volcano can be observed up close. Return to Granada for dinner at famous restaurant including Nicaraguan music show. Day 3 Granada – Ometepe - Morgan’s Rock (B, L, D)
Early this morning, we will leave Granada and drive south along Lake Nicaragua. We will navigate towards Ometepe Island. Constituted by two volcanoes, the Concepcion and the Maderas, Ometepe remains a legendary and peaceful place on earth. During our roundtrip on the island, we will discover and learn about its rural life, the Indian Petroglyphs on El Porvenir, beach of Santa Domingo as well as the Charco Verde Nature Reserve. Lunch will be served in Santo Domingo. Upon arrival back on mainland we will drive to our Hacienda and Eco Lodge, 12 Km away from the town of San Juan Del Sur. Here the lodge’s team will welcome you as you check in your stylish bungalow nestled into the tropical forest. Lodging at Morgan’s Rock Eco Lodge
Day 4 Activities at Morgan’s Rock Hacienda and Eco Lodge (B, L, D)
Today enjoy a “farmer’s life in Nicaragua”. Our 4x4 vehicles will take you from the “main house” to our breakfast place settle in the “woods”. Before seating and enjoying our “desayuno campesino” we will all first milk a cow. Everyone is welcome to try this! Then we will learn how to make “tortillas”, a basic meal used by each Nicaraguan Family. By traditional oxcart, we will continue discovering the huge Hacienda, visiting several places of interest like the “mirador” (viewpoint), the “mariposario”, where many species of butterflies have been raised, the reforestation area and the local rum factory. Day 5 Morgan’s Rock - San Juan Del Sur / Managua (B, L)
From the beach, we will embark on the “Argonauta”, a 47 Ft wooden vessel and enjoy a pleasant and unique ride along the Pacific coast until we reach San Juan del Sur. After our lunch at “La Cascada” restaurant, our chauffeur and guide will drive you safely to Managua for the continuation of your trip or your flight back home.
