Puerto Madryn is the gateway to all the natural wonders the Valdes Peninsula have to offer. One of the best attractions (and main activities in the area) is whale watching, from June to December, but there is plenty of wildlife to be seen here!
Day 01 Arrival to Puerto Madryn
Upon arrival to Trelew airport you’ll visit Punta Tombo for an excursion to see the Magellan Penguin Colony, the largest in South America. Towards the coast, the natural lanes, created over the years by the birds, are crowded with thousands of busy animals, running from the sea to the nest and back. The heart of the reserve is a narrow peninsula of volcanic stone. On both sides of the rock, you may observe the transformation of this clumsy walking bird into an elegant, high-speed swimmer and diver. The reserve hosts also a lot of other seabirds and shorebirds, like King and Rock cormorants, Giant Petrels, Kelp gulls, Flightless Steamer ducks and Black Oystercatchers. Afterwards, you’ll be transferred to the hotel in Puerto Madryn. Lodging at La Posada Hotel in Puerto Madryn
Day 02 Valdes Peninsula (B)
Today you’ll enjoy a full day tour to Peninsula Valdes. Due to its geographical position, it has its own macroclimate and thus a fascinating variety of animals to offer. Every year the Southern Right whales appear from June to middle of December to give birth. During the rest of the year there are many more animals to observe. On the way back, you may spot other land animals such as owls, guanacos, ñandús (South American ostrich) and maras, (Patagonian rabbits). Lodging at La Posada Hotel in Puerto Madryn
Day 03 Departure from Puerto Madryn (B)
You will be transferred to Trelew airport for your flight to your next destination.
