Day 01 Arrival to Neiva

After reaching Neiva, capital city of the department of Huila, begins a 4-5 hour Private overland trip on the road beside the Magdalena River, to San Agustin. Here, were found some of the most significant archaeological relics in South America. On arrival, transfer to Hotel.HOtel Anacaona Breakfast included. (public transportation is also available) Flight Bogota-Neiva is not included

Day 02 San Agustin Archaeological Park (B)

After breakfast we visit the San Agustin Archaeological Park, it is formed by the Mesitas A-B-C and D and the Fuente Ceremonial de Lavapatas. We end the day with a visit to the Archaeological Museum. in the afternoon we we go for a walking or a horse ride excursion, to the archeological sites of El Tablon and La Chaquira. The San Agustin Archaeological Park, located on the Department of Huila, is the only place in the world highlighted by 500 imposing stone statues carved in accordance to the mythology of their Indian sculptors. Most of the statues were part of the funerary paraphernalia of the ancient inhabitants of the area and were related to funerary rites, the spiritual power of the dead, and the supernatural world. The monumental character of the stone statues and the tombs is a reflection of the complex thought system these unknown cultures carved and immortalized in stone.

Day 03 Visit Alto de Los Idolos & Las Piedras (B)

After breakfast we will go to the famous strait of the Río Magdalena. Here the longest river of Colombia crosses a narrow throat of just 2 meters wide. After a short trip to the spectacular waterfall Salto de Mortiño we continue to the nearby village of Isnos to see the Parque Arqueológico were at the Alto de los Ídolos and Alto de las Piedras we will find some of the most impressive tombs and statues of the country.

Day 04 Departure (B)

According to flight departure, we make an overland return to Neiva to board the departure flight.
