Next to the world famous Corcovado National Park, Drake Bay is one of the most beautiful areas in Costa Rica. During season, it is possible to watch the humpback whales go by from your hotel or luckily from the boat!
Day 01 San Jose – Osa Peninsula (D)
Early morning pick up at any San Jose hotel and transfer to the airport for a domestic flight south to Palmar Sur. Then a local taxi ride for 20 minutes to Sierpe where a boat trip starts down the Sierpe River to the Drake Bay area (approx. 2 hours). Wet landing upon arrival at the hotel. Overnight at Drake Bay
Day 02 Corcovado National Park (B, L, D)
Day trip to Corcovado National Park. This National Park has a great range of biological diversity and has attracted the attention of tropical ecologists who wish to study the intricate workings of the rain forest. It is home to more than 400 species of birds and more than a hundred species of amphibians and mammals, including monkeys, scarlet macaws, coatimundis and other wildlife. According to National Geographic, this region of Costa Rica is “the most biologically intense place on earth”. Overnight at Drake Bay
Day 03 Caño Island (B, L, D)
Day trip by boat to Cano Island Reserve, where you’ll have time to relax and swim, or hike through the island. This 300 hectare island is known for its Indian cemetery and also known for its coral reefs and a variety of marine life. Even ponderous Humpback Whales can often be seen breaking the surface of the water in their season of migration (December and January). Overnight at Drake Bay
Day 04 Osa Peninsula – San Jose (B)
After breakfast, transfer by boat and taxi to Palmar Sur and flight back to San Jose.
