In this itinerary you will find the best of two of the most important Brazilian ecosystems. The Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, of spectacular beauty, includes a wonderful hike through its canyons, waterfalls and a delightful snorkeling experience, floating in crystal clear waters in the municipality of Nobres. Then, visit Pantanal and enjoy an exciting horse ride; canoeing in narrow creeks amid alligators; day and night photo-safaris and memorable sunsets from the world famous "Howler Monkey Tower" and more.
Day 1 Cuiaba / Chapada dos Guimarães (D)
Arrival at Cuiabá/Várzea Grande airport or pick up at hotel and transfer to the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park. Check in at the charming Park Eco Lodge. Lodging at Park Eco Lodge
Day 2 Chapada dos Guimarães (B, L, D)
Day devoted to wonderful hikes trough the National Park. The wind and rain sculpted intriguing shapes in the sand stones covered with rich “Cerrado” vegetation, its bird’s songs and crystal clear water falls add to the enjoyment of the area. The hike ends at the 86m high water fall “Véu de Noiva” where we’ll enjoy a traditional meal at the local restaurant, looking down to a huge canyon. Late afternoon light hike to enjoy sun setting behind the 850m high “São Geronimo” Peak in front of the Lodge. Lodging at Park Eco Lodge
Day 3 Chapada dos Guimarães / Nobres / Pantanal (B, L, D)
After breakfast, depart for a 2 hour drive towards Nobres passing by impressive rock formations along the way. Upon arrival at Recanto Ecológico Lagoa Azul you’ll pick up the equipment and then head towards the activities. First you’ll visit Aquário Encantado: one of the Salobra’s river sources with 6 meters deep where we are having the first floating activity among many species of colorful fish. Then, visit Salobra River a 500 meter snorkeling going with the current. Return to Recanto Ecológico Lagoa Azul for lunch. After lunch, depart to Pousada Araras Eco Lodge (around 3 hours driving). Upon arrival to Araras Lodge, you’ll have a late afternoon hike through the surrounding area to a 12 m. observation tower where you’ll enjoy a spectacular view of sunset. After dinner, night walk to observe the South Hemisphere sky, hear and feel the nocturnal environment. Lodging at Araras Eco Lodge
Day 4 Pantanal (B, L, D)
Full day dedicated to observing the Pantanal’s flora & fauna at the Araras Eco Lodge private reserve. After breakfast, the guide will lead you on a 2 to 3 hour horseback ride through the pastures, woods and wetlands. You’ll have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, you will go on a hike in a different area of the private reserve, allowing you to observe and learn more of the local environment. Lodging at Araras Eco Lodge
Day 5 Pantanal (B, L, D)
After breakfast, travel down private dirt roads, to Sentinela Camp on the edge of the Rio Clarinho, for a canoe tour to spot aquatic wildlife, birds and flora; possibility of piranha fishing. You’ll have a Brazilian churrasco style picnic lunch along the banks of the river. Lodging at Araras Eco Lodge
Day 6 Pantanal (B)
Before breakfast, enjoy a sunrise hike. You’ll have some time off to enjoy the surroundings, before your photo safari transfer to Cuiabá. Drop off at airport or city hotel.
