The city of Chiclayo is known best for being a commercial center, but also for the archaeological sites around it, especially from the Mochica, Chimu and Sican, all pre Incan cultures. The most famous site is the Lord of Sipan, a recently discovered intact tomb of an important leader containing jewelry, pottery, precious metals and human and animal skeletons. Some of the objects found can be appreciated in the Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum.
