Brazil is home to so many beautiful beaches that it would be very difficult to describe them all here. But here is a summary of some of the most popular and gorgeous beaches in the country:

Río de Janeiro

Río is home to many beaches that have made it one of the most popular coastal destinations in South America. Two of the most celebrated beaches are described below:

This immensely popular beach is a great spot for if you are looking for excellent restaurants and bars lining the beach. Enjoy the sand and water sports like volleyball and even foot-volleyball. Copacabana is also home to one of the most exciting New Year's Eve celebrations with free music, fireworks, and a ton of excitement.

This is without doubt one of the most popular beaches in the world and a major hangout spot for locals and tourists alike. Ipanema stretches 10 city blocks and has many attractions like volleyball, fitness equipment, and exciting water sports.


Buzios is home to at least a dozen impressive beaches with warm waters and beautiful white sand. Some are lined with bars and delicious seafood destinations while others are much less populated. Some beaches provide strong winds that are great for boating and other water sports while others are calm and serene all year round. Surely a visit to the beaches of Buzios will be a memorable one.


Bairro Novo Beach
Located in Olinda, this is the most popular of the area's beaches and is a great stop for excitement and a wide variety of attractions. Of Olinda's handful of beaches Bairro Nova Beach has the best infrastructure and hosts visitors from all over the world.


Fortaleza is a coastal city home once again to a number of popular beaches such as the well known Futuro Beach, known for its great tourist infrastructure and many kiosks. The swimming in this area is some of the best in the region.


This town is located in the Amazon region and for that reason many of the beaches can only be accessed by boat and are only formed after the river levels begin to recede around the month of December.

This urban beach is located very near downtown and is a popular spot for various surfing and body boarding competitions. The beach is lined with different amenities such as exercise equipment, showers, and various spots to eat and drink.

Ponta Verde
This beach is a tip of land covered with lush palm trees. At low tides, natural pools are formed in the reefs and are a common relaxation spot for visitors. Along the beach you will find numerous restaurants, bars, hotels, and other exciting amenities.

Porto de Galinhas

Beaches in Porto de Galinhas are many and offer visitors superb swimming, surfing, and beautiful views. The reefs form natural, warm pools when the tides are low and are very relaxing for swimming and bathing. The area is also great for swimming and snorkeling.

Salvador da Bahia

The Salvador area is made up some 50 kilometers of coastline and countless beaches famous for their immense ecological diversity. This makes it a great spot for calm swimming, diving, and snorkeling. Other exciting water sports include sailing and fishing and even surfing in the more active waters.
