In only one trip you will have the great opportunity to see the highlights of both countries Costa Rica and Nicargua. Experience the unique sensation of the natural canals of Tortuguero National Park and the breathtaking active Arenal volcano, Monteverde in Costa Rica. Continue to Nicaragua and discover Granada and Ometepe Island, end you trip in the nicest beaches of Costa Rica

Day 01 Arrival at San Jose

Arrival to the Juan Santamaria Airport. A representative from Costa Rican Trails will meet you at the airport to take you to hotel  in San Jose.
Overnight at the  Hotel Park Inn, standard. Breakfast included.


Day 02 San Jose-Tortuguero

After breakfast, early morning departure for Tortuguero. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Braulio Carrillo National Park and then a three-hour boat trip to the canals of Tortuguero.

Upon arrival to Laguna Lodge enjoy a welcome cocktail and lunch. The lodge will then schedule a visit to the Turtle Museum and town of Tortuguero.

Afternoon free to relax in the pool or take advantage of the hiking trails.

In the evening, after a delicious meal, you will relax along the canal's edge with a cocktail and enjoy the night sounds of the jungle.

Overnight at Laguna Lodge standard rooms. All "Family style" meals included.


Day 03 Tortuguero Canals

During the day enjoy scheduled boat tours to the small canals for wildlife observation. A jungle adventure of a lifetime! Think Amazon, only on a smaller scale. Tortuguero National Park, with its 21,000 hectares of preserved tropical rain forest, provides one of the best opportunities to experience a wide range of tropical wildlife.

Entrance fee to Tortuguero National Park included.

Day 04 Tortuguero-Arenal

Enjoy a scenic boat ride back to the Port. Take shuttle transfer to the Arenal area.

Arenal’s perfectly symmetrical shape makes it a sightseer’s dream, while its abundance of outdoor activities makes it an easy place to check things off your “must-do in Costa Rica” list. So visit one of the nicest volcanoes in Costa Rica, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is just part of what you will find in this amazing area of Costa Rica.

Day 05 La Fortuna Waterfall (horseback riding)

A beautiful example of the Costa Rican country site will be found along the way, cattle farms and agriculture, also the chance to see some birds as oropendolas and toucans. After that you have to walk five hundred meters into the forest to get to the waterfall, which is 70 meters high. At the base of the waterfall there is a "natural pool" where we can swim in the fresh water of La Fortuna river for about one hour.

The length of the tour is approximately four hours; from La Fortuna we have to go 5 ½ kilometers to the southeast. We spend 1 ½ hours to get to the rest site of the horses.

Arenal Volcano Hike & Ecotermales Hot Springs

Late afternoon visit to the trails of El Silencio and the volcanic thermal mineral pools at Ecotermales Hot Springs, where you can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak and enjoy of a delicious dinner.

Day 06 Arenal-Monteverde

Pickup at the hotel for the scenic shared lake crossing transfer (boat-car) shuttle bus transfer to Monteverde.

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is one of the most diverse and rich tropical cloud forests in the New World and home to the resplendent Quetzal and the rare bell bird. Monteverde is not only interesting for the Cloud Forest Reserve's inhabitants, but also for its founders, the Quakers. Trapp Family Lodge will be your home-base for two nights. After check-in, feel free to explore your new surroundings.

Day 07 Monteverde Cloudforest - Sky Trek & Tram

In the morning you will hike through the well marked trails of the Monteverde Cloud forest Reserve. Then enjoy an afternoon adventure at the Sky Trek Zipline & Tram tour.

Afternoon visit to the Sky Zipline & Tram facilities . The Sky Trek is a system of seven platforms suspended above the ground in the midst of tree boughs. Zip lines attached from one platform to another will allow you to slide with the use of special equipment. In Sky Tram explore the world famous Cloud Forest of Monteverde in a 5,249 feet ride that would lead you up to Costa Rica Continental Divide.

Day 08 Granada

Transfer to the border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua, Penas Blancas. Then a continue to Granada for your first night in Nicaragua( private transfers)

Founded in 1524 Granada is the oldest colonial city on the Isthmus; that heritage adds to the charm and character of the place today. Today's Granada is a delightful town, it's streets are lined with Spanish-style houses with large wooden doors opening onto cool interior patios. A wonderful walking city, although some buildings appear to be on the verge of collapse, many others have been beautifully renovated and now function as restaurant, hotel, or residential home. A great way to get a nice overview of the city is by ascending the towers of the La Merced church.

Walk around the city on your own and enjoy delicious  dinner at  “ La Calzada”

Day 09 Masaya Volcano, Arts & Crafts

Start your journey with a visit to  Masaya Volcano,an active and dormant smoking crater. Visitors can peek over the edge at the Masaya Volcano, and look into the impressive crater, which is continuously emitting smoke and sulfur gases. From this central crater it is possible to start hiking to other craters or viewpoints. Then our driver will take you to the Arts Market where will have the opportunity to admire ceramics, woodcrafts, hammocks and Jewelry, Cigars, leather work & more! Before returning to the hotel, enjoy a scenic town of nurseries & flowers panoramic view of Apoyo crater lake.

Day 10 Ometepe Island

Take an unforgettable journey to one of the most beautiful places of Nicaragua. The island measures 276 square kilometers and it houses two majestic volcanoes connected through a small strip of land. Take an unforgettable journey to one of the most beautiful places of Nicaragua. 

Ometepe Island, the biggest island of the world on a fresh water lake. The excursion starts by heading towards the southern part of the country, getting to San Jorge's port where we will take a ferry that will take us to Ometepe, where you will be able to enjoy spectacular views and one of the most impressive ones of all Nicaragua. We will visit places like the, the Green Puddle's lagoon, Santo Domingo beach, and Ojo de agua water springs.

Day 11 Concepción Volcano Hike

With its 1610 meters, volcano Concepción is the higher and more prominent volcano on the island of Ometepe. The Concepción is a near perfect cone-shaped Volcano. During the challenging hike you will be able to see a great variety of plants and birds and enjoy some breathtaking views. But be aware, this volcano is active! Smoke is coming out of its crater, and there are other fumaroles on the volcano’s slope as well. Do you dare to climb the Concepción? You’ll need a lot of energy, stamina, and you should be in good condition to climb the Concepción. It is one of the toughest climbs in Nicaragua

Day 12 Hermosa Beach

Time to relax on the beach!! After breakfast, take the ferry transfer back Penas Blancas (Costa Rica border). Continue to Hermosa Beach in Guanacaste. 

While Hermosa Beach maintains an overall laidback atmosphere, it has grown as an epicenter of ongoing development. The town of Hermosa runs from north to south along its beachfront, becoming more sparsely populated toward the south. 

Services in town are abundant, offering excellent shopping, food, bars, and tourist activities. The coast of Hermosa Beach is renowned for its outstanding marine fauna, and visitors can enjoy this ocean life through activities such as snorkeling, sport fishing, and Scuba Diving. Horseback riding along the beach is another great way for people to take in the beautiful surrounding
