Best of Southern Chile (Lakes & Patagonia )

In this Southern Chile adventure you will be amazed with Lake District (Puerto Montt/Puerto Varas/Osorno/Chiloe) that features several volcanoes which rise above sceneries of singular beauty, where the crystal-clear waters of the rivers and lakes. Also explore Puerto Natales and the Torres del Paine National Park, visit to the Milodon Cave and hiking tours to the Natural Reserve, and navigation tours around the Southern ice field glaciers!

Day 01 Arrival Santiago

Private transfer to the hotel. Private Santiago city tour (Panoramic tour) with guide (no museum).The guide will show and tell you the history of the Santa Lucia Hill -Place where Santiago was founded in 1541 by the Spanish Conquistadors-, the Main Square, the Cathedral, the Post Office and the City Hall of Santiago, The National Library, the La Moneda Government House, and the old and historical neighborhood of downtown Santiago. To the east you will be able to see some modern buildings and the changes that they have brought to the neighborhood, ending this excursion in a handicraft store, where you will enjoy a Pisco Sour and pieces of works made of lapis lazuli, a stone that exists only in Chile and Afghanistan.

Day 02 Santiago

SIB Full day excursion - Viña del Mar & Valparaiso (no lunch), our Garden City will charm you with its special architecture, its streets, palaces and the Quinta Vergara. You will also have the opportunity of getting to know a Moai from Easter Island. After visiting the coastal border you will visit the city of Valparaiso, whose origins dates back to 1536, it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and it is the seat of the Legislative Power. It has magic, picturesque elevators, colorful neighborhood, and unique and unforgettable sceneries. You will be able to take a boat ride through the Valparaiso Bay (fee not included) “ Lunch not included Valparaiso is the main port of Chile and it won the UNESCO World Heritage status in 2003, this city, so-calledThe Jewel of the Pacific, is an open-sky amphitheater, where its multicolored houses seems to hang from its hills.

Day 03 Santiago/Puerto Montt - Puerto Varas

After your breakfast at your hotel. Flight to Puerto Montt is not included.

This afternoon we invite you for a Puerto Montt City tour, a visit to this colorful sea port includes one of its highlights: the Fish Market, where classic specialties of the chilote cuisine such as the Curanto, the Pulmay and the Cancato, are offered. Tasty fish and shellfish as well as a visit to an interesting handicraft market blend in to provide the best example of the striking local colorful lifestyle that provide such an ambience even today attracts painters and photographers. Visit to Puerto Varas, known as the City of Roses thanks to its beautiful gardens. We will visit its downtown area and then the shore of Llanquihue Lake, visiting Philippi hill, and its German-style colonial architecture.

Day 04 Puerto Varas

SIB Full day excursion: Petrohue watertfall + Osorno volcano with guide.

After breakfast we will have a morning departure by bus toward Petrohue area along the southern side of the Llanquihue Lake with the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes as a majestic background. Arrival at the Vincente Perez Rosales National Park where you will visit the beautiful Petrohue Waterfalls, enjoying the impressive views of the Osorno Volcano and the Todos los Santos Lake. Then you will have lunch at a local restaurant (set menu). Afterwards you will continue touring, but this time, you will visit the Osorno Volcano, a perfect-shaped cone volcano located in the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, crowned the Lake Region landscape. We will drive you up to the ski center; here you will have the chance to take the lift discovering an astonishing panoramic view. Note: Lunch included in private service only

Day 05 Puerto Varas

Breakfast at the Hotel- SIB Full day excursion: Chile (Ancud & Caulin) with lunch guide.

To Ancud in the Chiloe Island In the Southern part of the continent where geography breaks down into countless islands and archipelagos, after a placid crossing of the Chacao channel, we are taken by the culture of the Chiloe island so strongly matriarchal, where Catholic and pagan beliefs mingle to give birth to legends and myths, and the result of community Mingas can be seen on the colorful architecture and the artistic hand-made shingles. A simple but very scenic road takes us to Ancud where the history of the island becomes real in its museum and the landscape springs out from its hills. Note: Lunch included only in private service.

Day 06 Puerto Varas-Puerto Montt-Punta Arenas

Depending on time of departure flight, transfer back to Puerto Montt airport will be arranged. Flight from Puerto Montt to Punta Arenas (not included) Punta Arenas airport reception and private transfer to Puerto Natales, the gateway city for those want to visit Torres del Paine (2 hours and 30 minutes from Punta Arenas) (no bilingual guide).

Day 07 Full day Torres Del Paine Natl Park

The excursion begins visiting the Milodon Cave Natural Monument located on the Benitez Hill, 25 Km away from Puerto Natales. In this place during the 19th century the remains of an herbivorous prehistoric animal were found. This animal became extinct in the end of the Pleistocene. As well as the huge historical and scientific mean, the Milodon Cave has an important tourist attractive in the beautiful landscape surrounding the cave and the location just 88 kilometers south of the Torres del Paine National Park, making this a must for tourists traveling to or from the park. It is necessary a half-an-hour walk to get into the cave. Here you will observe the stalactites, places where the remains were found and a replica of Milodon. Afterward a technical stop is held in the village of Cerro Castillo; where there are possibilities to purchase some products, enjoy the coffee service or just a break to testify the beauty of the surroundings. Continuing the trip toward Torres del Paine National Park, visitors will be able to enjoy the most diverse landscapes, such as, the Magellan deciduous forest and the vast Patagonian steppe dominated by wind and aridity. On the way it is possible to see Patagonian guanaco, South American camel, and the endemic Nandu, relative of the African Ostrich. Once we get to the 242.000-hectare park, with dozen lakes populated by marine birds, turquoise lakes, waterfalls and mountains covered by ice are the predominant landscape inside the park. A 15-minute walk is necessary toward the Waterfall (Salto Grande), which is communicating two big lakes inside the park, Nordenskjold and Pehoe Lakes. Day 08 Torres Del Paine /Grey Glacier by Zodiac boat

This day you will have a full day touring and discovering the other side of the National Park, with amazing panoramic views of the towers. You will enjoy a delicious Picnic lunch to recover energy and also drink a hot beverage. Afterwards we will drive you toward the Grey area, where you will do your check-in (1 hour before boat departure). To get to the pier it is necessary to cross a suspension bridge and the forest. Once at the pier you will aboard a zodiac boat to approach to the Catamaran, and after one-hour sailing through the icebergs and when you are immersed in the milky waters of the lake you will get the front of this giant of ice, the Grey Glacier, which is one of the largest in the area and it is also a portion of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field which is one of the largest water reserves in the world. For approximately one hour you will be facing the glacier, with its deep blue color and its crevasses. The return trip is done through the same way. Drive back to your hotel.

Day 09 Torres del Paine/Punta Arenas/Santiago

Buffet breakfast Early departure from Torres del Paine to Punta Arenas Airport (6 hours length)

Transfer to the hotel to Punta Arenas Airport - no guide. Flight Punta Arenas -Santiago is not included A overnight in Santiago might be needed, depending on intl flight schedule (not included)
